Daddy Time

I think that there should be a general rule that we should be allowed to wish Happy Father's Day (or Mother's Day) up to the following Sunday.  There could be some scatter brains like mine who get overwhelmed and excited with every good news and get worried with every hurtful news and forget to wish people the due greetings and blessings. I have to say thanks to some of my blogger friends whose blogs reminded me that a message for Happy Father's Day is due. There are some terrific fathers that I know like my husband, my son, my brothers, my brothers-in-law, my boss, my boss's boss, some blogger friends, some blogger friend's husbands and some of my neighbours. So Happy Father's Day to all of you.

I remember some young people at work had hurtful memories of their fathers being tough with them. I am not sure what could have gone wrong, but a lot of times us parents copy the kind of parents we had. Sometimes that may not even be the case. So I do have a message for all the young fathers out there. The young dude that is standing in front of you  is a toddler today but he is going to grow into a fine young man. His only needs (besides food, shelter and clothing) will be respect and approval. All of the material goods are secondary. In the process of providing the American dream please do not forget to look in those innocent eyes and say a nice comforting word. A lot of things need to be fixed in this world. When it comes to parenting each one of us is a work in progress.

True, when it comes to parenting each one is a work in progress. That, despite how old you grow and how experienced you are with child raising. Every child is different, and even more varied forms are only emerging :-P. Parents need to be learning better.

Hi Munir .. people need to be thanked and appreciated at all times - and especially our near and dear .. who we probably forget about too often.

You're so right .. and it sounds like you've been making up to your hubby, while you've been ensuring your grandchild comes into his new life in a home that's been eased for his parents by their mother (in-law)being there to help out look after the other little ones.

Good for you - and we continue to be a work in progress!!

Have a lovely weekend together sharing each others' pleasures .. Hilary

Hi Munir! Congrats on being a Grandma for the 3rd time! It never gets old or boring does it? Being a Grandparent is so fun and rewarding..they love us no matter what! It's so true about parenting...sometimes I wish I could go back and tell my young parent self to just slow down, take a deep breath, enjoy those sweeties more and worry less about the small stuff. I see so many "bad" parenting skills at the hospital..many times it's tragic and sad. Good post and reminder for all Dads.

Thanks for the well wishes! Father's Day is somewhat neglected, but probably that's the nature of fathers. Not that we're neglected, but we often don't care about making a big deal out of ourselves. I got the phone calls from all of my kids, but they call most weekends anyway, which is as I would like it. Don't need any presents, just a bit of loving conversation and an update on what they're up to.

Congrats new Grandma and I agree with your sentiments - spread the love for the week and remember that the way you treat them today affects their life for the future - lay on the love!

Hey Munir, I gave you another award on my blog. There are no strings attached so it may give you a blog entry since all you have to do is talk about five films or books that you've seen :)). Have a great day.

Munir, it's me again. I'm online testing out my blog. Since changes had been made I couldn't leave comments unless I was annonomous(?), I think that's how you spell it, well, any-who, I think I figured out the problem by accident. I remember you telling me you had the same problem.

If you are still having such problem, you need to go to your dashboard, scroll down to webmaster and tools (I think) and register your blog URL. That should work. Now I can leave messages on others blogs without problems.

Take Care,
Della
