One from the general public - - -

Yesterday was wear red for Women's heart health day so I made it a point to wear a red shirt under my black cardigan. Little did I know that some associates  had planned to wear blue for the Giants. I felt a little left out, but I am not the one to let something like that bother me so I told everyone that I will try and wear blue on Sunday as I am working on Sunday. Case closed? Now I have to dig and find a dressy blue top. Times like these bug me a lot. I do not want to spend twenty-five to thirty dollars and buy a blue top that may not be even dressy enough. I am in trouble. Really? One of my coworkers said that I should be gutsy enough to say that I don't care for the Giants or the sports or even New York. The economy is so bad and the unemployment rate is so high.

American Heart Month - Red Dress Pin (Estimated Ship Date 2/8/2012)I simply listen to what everyone has to say because it helps me understand people. I mean, our unemployment rate compared to Florida is not so bad. Exactly how many people have lost their jobs at Cape Canaveral, I wouldn't know but hey that was the pride and joy of America once upon a time and one of man's greatest achievements took place because of the people who work there. The issue however remains about the budget, then again what position does the general public have in saying where the money goes?
Ocean girl had posted a video that got my attention. Someone who lives oceans away from America is trying to understand the politics of the US.  This got me embarrassed. I used to get A plus in political science papers in college, but again that was college and they were just papers. How did Democracy get tarnished? Maybe it is a good thing that I did not become a teacher after all. What would I tell my students when they would ask what say do we have in how and where the money goes.  My husband made a remark while watching Howie Mandel on Pierce Morgan show. He said this guy seems to know that we need to pick someone from general public to be our leader.  I was not paying attention but if Howie Mandel said something like that he is a political genius, a germaphobe he may be.

To thine own self be true- don't let those others pressure you into wearing something for the wrong reasons. And, politics are difficult to explain for anyone these days-

Munir,
I agree with Shelly...be true to yourself and the heck with what other people say you 'ought' to do. I am so disillusioned with our government...talking about embarassing. Perhaps Howie Mandel should be our leader; at least we'd laugh rather than cry.

Hey, aren't we too old for peer pressure? I say wear what you want... I don't even like football and could care less what color stands for what team. So you go and have a good work day wearing your pride and anything else that makes you happy! As for politics..well, I'm stumped this election year. Hopefully I'll get some insight before November!

I wouldn't want to spend money on a blouse for a football game either. If I say what I think about politics I would probably make people mad, so I better be quiet. :)

You are an adult. Wear what you want. Say what you want. And if you want to vote for Howie Mandel--DO IT!

Hello Munir, case closed? Your story made me smile. No old blue you could dig out? :)

I always felt like my professional work clothes were more important than casual day or sports day or whatever special day someone could think up. There was certainly not enough money in my very tight budget to spring for clothing every time there was an odd occasion. Though dressing as my peers for those days was not mandatory, it still showed up once in a performance appraisal and when I noted that it was optional dress, until the company gave me a clothing allowance to cover it, I would choose the "option" to pass. It never came up again.

I think red for women's health makes a better statement than supporting a football team - and I'm a big sports fan.

I wasn't even aware of that day so I didn't wear red.

Now I know though.

I try to understand my own country's politics, but it's becoming more and more difficult to understand why certain decisions are being made. I tell myself that I must be missing something because common sense seems to have flown out of the window.

I love Oceangirl's blog. It takes time to continuously stay up on the latest stuff. I've been trying as hard as I can by reading, listening, and watching relevant material to current events.

I'm so happy the Giants won. I had placed some bets on Eli Manning and they all came through for me. It's always good to get some cash even if the amount is not all that significant.

Well I agree with everyone. Wear whatever you want, when you want to. That's what I do, same goes for name brands, don't really like to go around showing off name brands, besides the cost is so much higher than the others. Hugs...Lu.
