Counting On Positivity

BEFORE I FORGET :-
I would like to remind my self that I have a great family, wonderful friends  and wonderful blogger friends.
I would like to write blog entries about experiences I have been having with not remembering things. In case  anyone who is reading my blog is having similar experiences, I would like to hear them as well. They could be people  my age or have loved ones my age who are getting forgetful.

My last blog entry was two weeks ago. What happened to the two weeks? Thankfully I write that  after coming back from Philadelphia I was talking non stop about the new baby and praising the new parents for their love and devotion for their kids. This would be during the day. At night I would worry about their well being outside their home, in school, and what the world would be like when they grow up. I don't know if the effect of being worried worked on my mind and I was getting forgetful or if it was my age. I then did a lot of research. The "A" word works on my mind like the word Monster works on kids' minds. Maybe I should just stop being afraid and things will be OK. I hope so. There are way too many nice things that I would like to put in a safe place in my mind. Just in case.Maybe I will write them down and keep reminding myself.

The beginning of this month was full of joy as I had a chance to visit my son in Hawaii. Last time we went there was in 2004. He made plans for me to go there. It was very soothing to be with him. He took us a lot of different places, including beautiful beaches, museums and botanical gardens. I was amazed at the number of plants I could recognize and name after so many years of studying them in college. I can never thank him enough.
The first evening I got to my son's place, he let me read the book, Eat, pray, love by Elizabeth Gilbert.  I woke up at two thirty in the morning because of jet lag and wanted to continue to read the book. I could not remember the right name.  The "nook" was not letting me go to my page as I had forgotten to book mark it. I kept on thinking and it seemed like my brain had two parts, one telling me that the name of the book was live love and pray and the other one was telling me that the book is love, travel and live. The right name was not coming in my mind at all. This is something that worried me. I know that Julia Roberts has worked in the movie based on the book and there is a lot of travelling. So was my mind able to relate and not remember? Has this happened to people out there?
On the way back I forgot my ID. I was in luck that the right people found it.
Today, I noticed that I have to ask my daughter the name of the person she is talking about, before she finished her sentence. Has this happened to anyone before?

Munir: I gave you the wrong info. I tried what I had read. It only worked on a few blogs. I have started using Foxfire for my browser and things are working just fine, now. LOL's.

Munir: It happens to me all the time. :) I will be chatting with others and forget what I was going to say as I began to say it. I don't get upset, I just feel it is one of those things.

I'm glad your back. I missed you!

I'm horrible at remembering people's names...and sometimes my Sis will talk about something we did as kids and I can't remember it at all..the little things we forget each day is normal. Once when I was much younger...late 20's...my hubby said "your remember Tom don't you?"..I said, "gee, I don't think we've met."...my hubby said.."We spent a whole weekend with them a few months ago.." Embarrassed silence..I'm sure they must think I'm in a nursing home by now, not remembering my name...so it happens at any age! However, if you're really worried, see your family Doc. They can do some tests to ease your mind.

I have been forgetful and losing things for years. I wouldn't worry. My mom is the same.
My husband read that one prune a day keeps Alzheimers away. I bought dried prunes and we each have one a day.

Oh Munir, I'm so glad to see your post after so many days.

But dear, are you worrying over nothing ! Forgetfulness is humane, especially when your mind is overwhelmed with your grandchild and your own children. I, at this early age too forget the basic things when I'm overexcited. Just don't worry. And if it's worrying you too much, go see a counselor. Dear, its too humane!

And do keep blogging Munir. We'd been missing you.

We all get forgetful from time-to-time Munir and it especially happens when we are tired. I wouldn't worry too much about that. ON a side note...I was thinking of buying a Nook.

thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! re: the barred owl, it is at dusk so light is limited, but if he's close enough, the flash lights him up like in the photos you saw. :)

Dear Munir, I am positively sure you are worrying about things that nearly everybody is experiencing daily. If your reflexes are good and your health is fine you will be alright. I am happy for you that you enjoyed your visit with your son in wonderful places. Keep reading, learn new things, fill puzzles, sodokus, etc. and just don't ignore negative thoughts.

Who else in this world does not have this problem?

The memory is in one small corner of our brain, it refuses to emerge when we push very hard.

It says hey after we have let it pass.

It is like a naughty kid.

Is happy to meet, anyhow.

Hi Munir .. lucky you being able to get to Hawaii .. and enjoying that family too .. and the amount you were able to see and participate sounds just lovely.

I think the more you worry - the worse things will get - just relax and go with the flow .. naturally we get more forgetful as we get older ..

Do a little less, and definitely worry less .. make things slightly simpler for you .. relinquish the things you find really difficult ..

Relax and just be yourself .. cheers for now - Hilary

Everyone forgets things. If you are really worried about it, I would consult a doctor. There are certain vitamins and minerals that help with memmory issues. You could be deficient in something.

You have proably just been stressed out and not sleeping good. That affects your memory - relax and don't worry too much about it.
@ Michael - LOVE MY NOOK!!! BN should start paying me for all the advertising I do for them. (Actually a BN employee knew who I was because I sent someone to him to buy one!) You will love it!
