Pray for School Children

It does not seem very long time ago when poverty was the only hardship children had to face to get education. I guess we can say that children whose parents could make just enough money to provide food and shelter and maybe a couple of outfits would get devastated if their children wanted to go to school and they could not pay the fee. I remember my own parents giving up their hobbies and things they liked to make sure we were able to go to school. I also remember my brother and I sharing a case of color pencils and a compass box. Today most of the countries of the world are rich enough to provide free education, and thanks to global generosity children can afford proper supplies for school.  Yet children are suffering more than their share of hardships. Some have actually lost their lives simply because they happen to be in school. Some will suffer from  PTSD for a major portion of their lives. Two years ago on the fourteenth of December was the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school and this morning we heard the horrible news of the attack on a school in Pakistan.  Some of us have children and grandchildren who go to elementary school. Some of us have children who go to college even.

This Holiday season let us all pray that our young ones stay safe anywhere they happen to be.

Munir, yes I am praying for the children all over the world. Makes me sad that they are not safe always. As for the kindle app it is free. You can go to kindle and download the reading app onto your computer and then get a lot of books free. I read so many free now I can't keep up. Thanks for coming by and reading my blog. Hugs, Barb

Munir I rarely watch the news but this is so heartbreaking... I will never understand how anyone could go into a school and shoot at and kill children... there is no reason good enough, I don't care how messed up they are... it is just so sad...

I will certainly pray for them and all children...

Dearest Munir,
Such a meaningful post and yes, education for little children is something the Western world almost takes for granted. It starts looking like priorities are GIFTS and even more GIFTS... But indeed, let's all pause and go Back to Basics and pray for much needed Peace and for freedom of children to have their education in a safe environment. Words cannot fill this void...
Hugs,
Mariette

We just took for granted that we would come home from school every day. My heart just breaks for all those parents who have lost their children to these mad men. We do live in very sad times.

I have heard about the news too...
It's really heart breaking, all we can do is pray for the remaining children...

It boggles my mind. I don't know how anyone could do these things. We are in one of those bleak periods of human history, so awful that I've wondered how people survived them.

Hi Munir - such a thoughtful post .. in times of dire strife and sadness for so many ... particularly Pakistan ... it's cruelty beyond belief ... we really must count all our blessings. Hilary

You're so right, children should be safe in school. It's hard to understand how things went so wrong and seem so out of control. For all the things that are right in this world, this is definitely one of the things that is completely wrong. Thanks for sharing this post, Munir. I'll pass it along to my Effectively Human community now, and hope it generates some healthy discussion.

You know you are so right. I hadn't thought about that - but we do need to pray every day for our kids.

It's terrible what goes on in schools. My daughter is in middle school, and there was a kid who beat up another kid in the class in front of everyone. The security officer came and got the bad kid out, but not before he kicked the door and shattered the glass. It was awful!

I truly don't understand the ability to take such hatred out on innocent children. I know God has them now so the prayers are for those left behind to grieve and for everyone to try and make this world a better place.
