Influences

Being a salesperson gives me a chance to meet a lot of people . I also get to understand people in general. Most of all I get to see children and marvel at their intelligence and innocence at the same time.

Last week I saw two little boys playing with the wind-up toys that were displayed with the Christmas decorations. They were having a lot of fun while their parents were looking through the different choices for lights. Just then a couple walked in with a gigantic dog. It was healthy, clean, and very well behaved.  So I praised the dog and complimented them for taking such good care. Then I asked them what do they feed him. Then the lady smiled and with a naughty look on her face said, "Little boys". I was not expecting that answer and was speechless. The couple  simply walked away with the dog, but the two little boys left the toys and ran to their parents. I could see the fear on their faces.  The faces of the  kids, the size of the dog and the lady with the smirk  are still in my mind. I just hope that the kids are not afraid of dogs for the rest of their lives. Product Details

I guess she thought it was funny, but little kids don;t always get the joke.

Having a sense of humor is wonderful--if you know when to use it!!

I don't think she should have said that where the little boys heard it..

I wanted to let you know that I won't be writing or reading for awhile. I'll be back to read in the near future.... I'm not sure about writing... I hope I do, I'll see xox ♡

Hi Munir - that was a little unfair of the couple if they didn't stay and explain ... and I do hope the kids won't be affected by their words ... funny they may be, but not to tiny strangers. Cheers Hilary

Your post made me smile because I've had the urge to get a dog. I've been looking online and the shelters for the right one. Then I think maybe we'll just forget it. Then something will happen and dogs are back on my mind. You're the second blogger this week to talk about dogs and then a rescue place called me about a dog they have for adoption...crazy! That costumer had a weird sense of humor but hopefully the boy's parents will tell them they were just kidding....alteast I hope they were kidding!

I don't see any humour in this ... in fact, it almost made me cry ... why would the person say such a thing in front of the lil boys?

Sometimes it really blows my mind how little people care about the consequences of their actions or words. If she knew what effect she would have, then she was downright cruel, but if she didn't she was really careless to scare them like that. I wonder what she's gone through in her life that she stopped believing in kindness. I wish she could see it would make her own life better to give kindness away - instead of being careless.
I sure hope the boys will get over their fears and that their parents were able to make them feel better.

Have a wonderful rest of the week! Lots of hugs to you,
Beate

Oh dear, I think it is hysterical. If the young boys were young enough to be that impressionable they should have been at their parent's side. Then the parent's could have explained that the lady was joking. You don't let small children out of your sight in a department store!! I am glad she scared the little boys into running back to their parents where they belonged in the first place.

It's episodes like these that become good learning experiences for children. I was once attacked by a dog as a child and have difficulty (even to this day) of trusting a big animal (the small ones don't frighten me at all). But I look at some of the big dogs that people own and see in their eyes that they could turn on a human in an instant. There's thousands of years of evolution at play with the domestication of dogs, but that instinct to kill is always there.

I agree that the couple should have explained their comment to the children that is if they realized they heard it. hopefully the children felt comfortable enough to confide in the parent/s to tell them what was said. In which case the all is well and a life lessen to be learned. it'a a possibility the boys were more afraid of the couple than the dog. Hope you are well Munir!
