A to Z challenge

A to Z on my mind:-

Q is for Questions. Today, there was a tribute by Purple Stride and Lisa Niemi ( Patrick Swayze's wife)  was in New York City to support those of us who lost our loved ones to Pancreatic Cancer. I mentioned this at work today, as I was hardly concentrating and the day was dragging. I wish I could go join everyone, but as life dictates us, I had to be at work. I would not be able to take time off because it was not long time ago that I had asked for time off for my husband's stress test. A coworker was saying that there would not be any point because it would unnecessarily bring back memories of how we lost our father. I guess she was kind of right, but wouldn't it be nice to know that I contributed to help out in research and there might be a day when the life span of patients with cancer of Pancreas might get better. I hope that my prayers get answered. I would not be asking why my dad, why at the age of fifty nine?

Speaking of cancer, I have a Question about skin cancer. Why do people who really don't like people with darker skin tone want to get a tanWe sold a lot of bathing suits today. Cute ones, modest ones, ones that are revealing and ones that you can hardly cover anything with. I was asking everyone if they have bought sun tan lotion with needed UV protection. Girls at the cosmetic counter gave me a thumbs up because they get commission from big brands.
Thinking about vacations made me think of the things we indulge in. For example, food. My question is what is wrong with a picture of our country where there are programs to help get rid of hunger among kids and at the same time there are programs to reduce the obesity rate among the young. What are we doing wrong?
One last question. when are we going to start thinking of prevention so we don't have to worry too much about treatment?

So many questions...so few answers.
How can it be right for a few countries to have so much and so many countries to have so little?
Answer: it's not right...now...what are we going to do about it?

Those are very valid questions. I don't know the answers yet, but I hope someday we all will. My condolences on your dad's passing at too early an age. It is never easy.

Good questions, Munir, that we need to consider. I'm sorry about your father. I hope and pray for treatments that can extend life and even cure cancer.

What a paradox that we have people who are hungry and people who are overweight and obese in this country. And in the world, people staving and people overindulging. I don't know the answers, but we need to keep asking the questions and moving towards answers, don't we?

I, too, hope that soon we will have answers to these very troubling questions. I am truly sorry you lost your dad much too soon. I am older than either of my parents got to be, & it sometimes scares me.....

I'm sorry you lost your Dad when he was so young. I disagree with your coworker..I think when we can do something positive about something that has had a negative impact on our lives it empowers us a little. It's a way to say to that disease..I'll fight you with whatever I can, and you won't defeat me in the end! I have no answers to many of your questions. I used to tan alot when I was young...I loved the look of darker skin but I'm sure I will pay for it as I age with more wrinkles and the risk of skin cancer. I've learned better since I've gotten older! Plus, I know many woman and men who have dark skin and I think they are beautiful!

Munir, good questions...I think whatever sells is the most important item at any one time if its swimsuits or skin protection, sugary food for kids or oops, now we mus focus on obesity. Silly isn't it?
I like your prayer post...you know, I had some of these thougths yesterday as I was thinking about the happening on American Idol. This is a show we watch together as a family as we enjoy the young talent and desire of people chasing a dream. If you watch the singer that got voted off was one I thought would make it to the final and while he was singing his final sone it flashed one of the other constestants praying for him and he stated that he truly was praying for him. This made me realize that our young people are very much spiritual beings and that it is important to young people and it makes my heart sing!

All good questions, Muir. Moderation in everything, I say. :)

I agree with Lynn...moderation is key!

For me, it's all about balance.

Sorry to hear you lost your Dad at such a young age. I lost a grandfather, aunt and uncle to Pancreatic Cancer.

You've asked lots of good questions...I think people's behaviors are based on their priorities. I know people who have money for liquor and drugs, but not for food. It makes my stomach turn.

As humans we are in constant conflict with everything around us (including ourselves). One extreme to the other. Things tend to balance out eventually, it just takes a long time; longer than we have here on Earth, mostly. Yet every action counts in this mayhem of existence.

These are all very good questions and really there are no answers for them. I think that humans are not logical and will choose to do many things that don't make sense and are often conflicted.
